Ballet and Modern Dance Classes at Mi-Cher Dance Academy

Mi-Cher Dance Academy offers Ballet and Modern classes in South Surrey. We are primarily a Ballet school, and believe a strong foundation in Ballet is imperative. Our Modern program supplements the dancers Ballet training and provides variety and alternative movements to expand their dance experience.

We offer exams with both the Royal Academy of Dance (Ballet) and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (Ballet and Modern).

To register for classes at Mi-Cher Dance Academy for September 2016 – June 2017, please use the form on the contact page to request a registration package.

Mi-Cher Dance Academy Class Descriptions

Pre-School Classes:

All our Tiny Tot classes (4 years old and younger) are run, at the Mi-Cher studio, through the Wee-Dance program.  This dance program has been created and is run by the passionate and energetic Shelby Kargl,  designed specifically with little ones in mind.  The Wee-Dance classes will be held at Mi-Cher Dance Academy’s studio, located at 214-15272 Croydon Dr. in Surrey.  For further information on the Wee-Dance program, or to register, please visit www.wee-dance.com
As the studio owner and teacher at Mi-Cher Dance Academy, I welcome this partnership with Miss Shelby and her wonderful Wee-Dance program. Please note, children participating in the Wee-Dance program are not included in the Mi-Cher Dance Academy year end production.

Primary Grades:

Pre-Primary, Primary and Grade One classes are offered once a week at Mi-Cher.  These classes are based on the Royal Academy of Dance program, with a continuing emphasis on fun, as well as building a solid foundation in ballet training.  Children enrolled in these classes are included in the year end production.

Intermediate Grades:

Grades Two, Three, Four and Five continue with training through the RAD and or ISTD ballet syllabi.  Students registered in these classes must attend a minimum of twice a week and in grade four and five a third lesson per week is encouraged for the more serious student.  Placement in a third lesson per week is at the schools discretion, however if you are interested, please check the appropriate box on the registration form.  Students at this level may be eligible for exams and all are included in the year end production.

Vocational Ballet:

Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced Foundation students are required to attend a minimum of three classes per week, with a fourth lesson, though optional is strongly encouraged.

Advanced One students are required to attend a minimum of four classes per week, with fifth lesson, though optional is strongly encouraged.

Students in these levels may be eligible for exams and all are included in the year end production.

Modern Dance Program – 6 years and up

We believe that a strong Ballet technique enhances all other forms of dance – therefore, all students wishing to register for the Modern Dance program must be taking their minimum number of ballet classes before being allowed to register for Modern.

Students must be 6 years old by December 2016 to register. Our Modern Dance Program  is VERY popular and registration is on a first come, first served policy.

The Modern program follows the ISTD syllabus and is taught by Karrie Hill.
